The Dancing Chain: the heritage of road bikes
March 02, 2011

$40 (inc. S/H)

[$40. ONE LEFT! -- 2nd edition, not 3rd] Here's a big hardcover history of the derailleur bicycle. 380 pages. 9x11". My price is $15 off the normal retail of $55.

Hmmm, the subject is a bit dry, no? You'd think. But really it covers the whole histories of all the major bikes of the modern age---their starts, their stellar years, their sorry declines as something new and beyond their imagination overtook them and left them behind. It includes the cultural, social, business and sporting impacts of each of them as well, as the derailleur bike has developed along thru the years. It covers what the stars rode and why and what happened to them as they did so along the way. The development of the bike has been as competitive and influential as the races between hero cyclists. It's full of great cycling photos, as well as pics of bikes and their parts. Where has all this bike stuff come from, anyway? Oh, there's a great story there, indeed. It's quite dramatic reading. If you're a bike buff it's considered a must-have. I read mine cover to cover with great appreciation.

Non-US customers SHOULD see an option for postage to their country (or close enough) in their PayPal checkout cart. This book requires the *3-4 pound* postage rate. (I recently updated my shipping system within PayPal and don't know how well it works yet).
