Winner of Copenhagen Citybike Design Contest...
January 28, 2010

Copenhagen had a citybike design contest this past year for the bike that they'll offer in a citywide bikeshare program. Here's what won... The link shows the runner-ups, the details and program goals.

Interesting that 20" wheels and a very stout front platform won the day.

20" wheels that are narrow, as these look to be, require smooth roads -- Which CPH may well have. Given such roads, such wheels can deliver the benefits of their compactness.

The low-ish front rack confirms the "low, stout and up front" French porteur approach as being a winner for load carrying. It also confirms that load hauling is a key aspect of citybike reality.

I hope the bike is more adjustable for size than it looks...

Otherwise, it's a straightforward design that's readily buildable. Not as futuristic as some runnerups.
